In science, energy is the ability to do work.
Work is done when a force causes an object to move. Therefore, energy is the ability to apply a force and move an object.
When you do work on an object, you transfer energy to it.
Energy comes in many different forms; which includes kinetic energy, potential energy, thermal energy, and more.
Energy is conserved. Work is the transference of energy from one object to another, or the conversion of one form of energy into another one. If an object has energy, it has the potential to do work.

Law of Conservation of Energy

The Law of Conservation of Energy states that the total amount of energy remains constant during any transfer of energy. This means that energy cannot be created nor destroyed. Energy can only be either: transferred from one object to another object, or transformed from one form to another.
