Input and Output Forces
1. The difference is that input force is when you are applying force to the machine and the output force is what force the machine is applying to the object being moved.

2. Input is also effort force and output force is also called load force.

3. When you (the person) apply the input force to the scissors, the scissors will produce an output force. The output force from the scissors is what cuts the paper.

Mechanical Advantage

1. The difference is that the IMA is a predicted number that is not affected by friction whereas the MA is the actual number.

2. Friction affects the MA only. IMA is just calculating the MA without friction.

3.a) 10 b) 16

4. 20

Bonus questions
1. 13

2. 3

3. IMA= r w / r a (radius of wheel and radius of axel)
= 7.0cm/ 0.84cm
= 12
