An automated system is a system that replaces a human workers with a machine controlled by a computer. When the system is set up and programmed, the machines complete the task needed without any humans needed. Some examples of automated systems can be as simple as a thermostat, outdoor lighting, heating, air conditioning, pool pumps, garage doors or even a coffee maker. They can also be more complex such as an automated feeding system (For farms), assembling cars, or factory assembly lines.
In most factories mechanical arms are built to make jobs easier. They complete the job that would take longer for humans to do. To program an automated system a worker programs a route on a computer for the automated system to follow. Once the computer is set up and the system is working, the automated system continues to do the same task over and over.
