If you take a piece of paper cut to the shape of an inclined plane and wind it around a cylinder, you will get the form of a screw. It is also similar for taking an inclined plane, in the form of a road or railroad tracks,and winding it around a mountain. A screw has ridges and is not smooth like a nail. Some screws are used to lower and raise things. They are also used to hold objects together.
Wedge- A wedge is a triangular shaped simple machine that is used to push two objects apart. It is basically made up by two inclined planes. These two planes meet and form a sharp edge. The edge that is made is used to split things apart. The picture above is a wood splitting wedge.

It is based on two inclined planes that are placed back to back, which allow the two parts of the cut object to move apart using less force than would be needed to pull them apart in opposite directions.
