In general
Why do people use ergonomics? Well, so far we've learned that ergonomics is the science of work, or redesigning machines to make them more user-friendly. Ergonomists do that by finding out the stress/strain points in the human body and adding a change to the object to make it put less strain on that body part. People use ergonomics so that they can live a more comfortable life. If people do not use ergonomically designed objects, they could end up with certain cumulative injuries (injuries that form over time) such as:carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, tennis elbow, tendonitis, computer headaches, and low back strain.
TimePeople also use ergonomics to save time. When the ergonomists are improving a machine, they are mainly focused on finding a way to minimize strain. However, they don't only redesign the strain level of the object. They also look at how efficient the previous version of the machine was, and find ways to make it complete tasks faster than it would normally take. An example of this would be the lawnmower. Some people still use the old lawnmower, which is manual, but most people use the automatic lawn mower, which is much easier to operate. It is much easier to push through your backyard than the old lawnmower, which got stuck in every other dirt bump or weed clump. There are some lawnmowers now that you can automatically program to mow your lawn at certain times without you actually doing anything.
