In 1913, Ford Motor Company introduced the car assembly line. Prior to this, cars were built by a number of skilled and unskilled workers. To make 1 car, it took the workers 12 hours, but with automation, it only took an hour and a half.

In a modern day car factory, there are no humans on the floor, only machines. Humans are still necessary for the programming and maintenance of the machines, but machines are responsible for the cars assembly.
