- Mechanical Advantage (MA) : Mechanical Advantage is the amount by which a machine can multiply an input force. Determined by the ratio of the output force (F out) to the input force (F in).
Notes:
- If the output force is larger than the input force, it means that a machine has a mechanical advantage that is greater than one. - There is one formula to calculate mechanical advantage, It is Output force / Input force. This is also know as Fin / Fout. - Mechanical advantage is measured by using Newtons (N). This is used for both, Output forces and Input forces.

Example:
Equation:
MA = F out / F inMA = 300 N / 100 N
MA = 3
