This is how most cinema ticket booths used to look like; there was a booth in front of the theatre and you would go up to the person inside the booth, ask them for a ticket to a specific movie and hand them the right amount of money. Then, you would go inside and watch your film.
This is how ticket booths look now. They're more like kiosks and they work like this: You buy your tickets online and then when your arrive at the kiosk you either let the machine scan the mobile barcode on your smartphone, or you put your booking ID into the machine. Then it prints out the tickets and you are good to go. If you haven't yet bought tickets then you go up to the kiosk, answer some simple questions like; which movie would you like to see, how many tickets and which showtime. Then you swipe your credit card and it prints out the tickets.
Efficiency:POSITIVE:The kiosks are much more efficient than the booths because machines work much faster than humans, don't make errors, and are not likely to get sick! As a result, there will be less of a line and people can get their tickets faster. NEGATIVE: The machines occasionally break-down or could be slow due to connectivity problems and this can make people wait much longer for the machine than waiting in a line-up. Social Impact:POSITIVE: Machines don't get angry and don't give you attitude. NEGATIVE: It removes human interaction entirely.Economic Impact:POSITIVE: Establishment saves money on labour costs. NEGATIVE: Machines cost money up-front which has to be paid over time and repairs can be costly.Environmental Impact: NEGATIVE: The kiosks need electricity and this can be harmful to the environment.
