Classifying forces


Force is classified into two categories: Contact forces and action at a distance forces. These two groups have elements of their own.


Contact force

A force accomplished, when two objects are in contact with each other. Simply kicking a soccer ball, taking a drink of water or even walking requires contact force.

Action -at- a distance force

Force at a distance is the attraction/repulsion between two objects when they are
not yet in contact. A magnet can move a pair of keys without even touching them. When you
go to lay down on your bed, the force of gravity is acting on you by exerting a downward
force,in order for you to lay down. While the bed is exerting an upward for in order to prevent
you from crashing to the ground.
