Home~Introduction To Machines~The Lever~The Inclined Plane~How The Lever Works ~How The Inclined Plane Works ~Quiz As we were talking about, many complex machines are made up of those six simple machines. The Lever, The Inclined Plane, The Wheel and Axel, The Wedge, The Pulley, and The Screw. But machines go even more into depth. Those six or better to say four simple machines aren't the original machines. They might be the main machines but definitely not the original machines. There are two machines part of the six machines that stand out a bit more and if you focus enough and think about it for a while you will see it. But to save your time, I will tell you those two simple machines and explain why they are truly the "Parents" of all the machines in the world. So the "Parents" of all the machines in the world are: The Inclined Plane:
And The Lever:
The Inclined Plane and The Lever are the two parent machines similar to why the six main machines are named as "main". These two machines are the parent machines because all the other four main machines are made up of these two "parent" machines. I will show you.
The Screw is made originally from The Inclined Plane. As you can see, The Inclined Plane raps around The Screw from the bottom to the top. This shows that The Screw is made from The Inclined Plane.
The Wheel and Axil is made originally from The Lever. The Wheel and Axil is basically a Lever but it rotates fully around its fulcrum which in this case would be the Axil. It would be like the shape of the class 3 lever. This shows that The Wheel and Axil is originally made from The Lever.
The Wedge is originally made from The Inclined Plane. As you can see The Wedge has two slopes were The Inclined Plane has one. So it is like someone has glued two inclined planes back to back. This shows that The Wedge was originally made from The Inclined Plane.
The Pulley is originally made from The Lever. The Lever is made to change the direction of force to make lifting a load easier. The fulcrum does this. The wheel in a pulley also changes the direction of force when you pull down on the rope. The wheel is like the fulcrum on a Lever.
