Levers are used to lift heavy objects, it is one of six simple machines. They are one of the most common simple machine, almost anything that has a handle one it is attached one it is attached to a Lever. There are three classes of Levers, the first class lever the mechanical advantage is either equal to one, greater than one or less than one. The second class lever the mechanical advantage is always greater than one, and the third class lever is less than one. A lever has a fulcrum which is referred to the central point, the lever is the rigid bar that rests on the fulcrum.

The history of the Lever can date back to as early as 5000 B.C.E. It was first documented by Archimedes, who was so sure that a lever could in fact move the earth. Many Ancient Civilizations used the Lever to build buildings, for example the Ancient Egyptians used Levers to build pyramids. In the Ancient Civilizations the Lever was used most commonly with cultivation, excavation and moving large objects, animals were also used to enhance the human effort. Levers were also used to weight gold and lifting contains of water.
