Third-Class Levers

The third and final class of lever is the only lever where the mechanical advantage is always less than 1. This is because the load is further away from the fulcrum than the effort. The effort needs to pull the arm a smaller distance but with much more force, in order to lift the load.

Some examples of this class of lever is a hockey stick, a rake, and a golf club.
Another example of this type of lever is a pair of tweezers. But this is a little different because tweezers are two third-class levers attached together. Capture45.JPG
The effort you put in is much greater than the effort that is applied by the tweezers, allowing you to work on/with items that are too small for your hands without breaking them.
